I am a marine mechanic and love this charger . I installed this on my personal boat and have a guage on my trolling motor 12v battery and can see the charge every time I move spots or go for a ride it works so well depending on how much I drive sometimes once home for the day the trolling motor battery does not even need a charge by my std charger and stayed topped off just by going for a short ride . I love this charger and would never go without one again .If you are using your TM a lot and battery going low just go for a short ride and charge it up ..Really nice to have. My 20' skiff came with a 12 volt 55 lb thrust trolling motor which is actually a bit undersized for this big of a skiff. Needless to say battery life was not great because I was having to run the motor on 3 or so alot of the time. Now all I have to do is fast idle the engine for a minute or 2 to bring the batteries up to voltage, then idle over to my next spot, and they stay up good all day long instead of mid day wishing I had another trolling motor battery. You do have to remember it can only move 10 amps to the secondary battery, but if you're engine's charging system has enough capacity to supply it, this unit works great.I fish Lake Powell quite often and I don't have access to electricity most of the time. This on board alternator is a game-changer for me. I don't have to worry about charging my trolling motor battery for my entire trip. I couldn't be happierEasy to install and easy to use, but you need to know a little about boat wiring to do it safely. Once installed, I can run my boat on non-electric, wilderness trips for 4-5 days at a time and have full use of my trolling motor for the whole trip. Before this charger, I could get 2 or 2-1/2 days use out of my trolling motor.No more hauling a generator to Canada to charge my electric trolling motor battery. Charges a little slower than some of the reviews I've read and maybe because of the size of my outboard motor (20 hp & 12 amps) but sure beats having a dead battery 2 days into a 7 day fishing trip. Installation was simple and makes a perfect companion to your MinnKota trolling motor.This charger works well but does seem to take a long time to completely recharge my deep cell batteryThis unit works great. Driving from cove to cove this unit recharges my trolling battery.Works as advertised and very easy to install. I only wish it would charge my trolling battery faster when traveling to a new fishing spot. Bilan, a la fin d'une journée de peche et 80 % du temps sur le moteur electrique sur riviere, retour a la marina avec batterie (une 27) pleine charge !!i _think_ its extending my battery effective charge. can you fully recharge your battery with this? probably not. does it help you prevent a battery from completely discharging - i think so. i've never had a chance to use my trolling motor before i installed this charger so i dont know how much impact it has. but this charger is completely autonomous. you cant forget to turn it on or off. its greatWould prefer the box not openable when shipped as it was from factory. Who knows how many people opened it and had a look. Haven’t installed it yet but it looks good and rugged.Original unit had to be returned and replaced under warranty as it had a fault that was causing primary fuses in the boat to blow.Excellent charger but I wish the cords were longer for installation purpose.
