The PD9280AV is a 12V 80-amp RV power converter in the 9200 series. It features a built-in charging wizard with four charging modes: Boost, Normal, Storage, and Equalization to ensure optimal battery performance. The electronic current limiting of the 80-amp power converter automatically reduces output voltage when maximum capacity is reached, providing protection against low line voltage and preventing electrical damage due to voltage drops. Additionally, the PD9280AV inverter charger's cooling fan only operates when necessary, ensuring quiet operation. Power your devices confidently with the reliable PD9280AV converter charger MTS ELE01403 PD9280AV. This compactly designed PD9280AV RV inverter converter boasts an impressive 13.6VDC, 80A output and a wide input range of 105-130VAC. Weighing only 7.5lbs and measuring 3.6"x11.5"x9", it's the perfect power solution for your devices.

This rv converter is a beast in terms of power. 80A is a lot of current and this bad boy is rated to supply it. I don't have a load bank that big to try it on the bench so I will have to trust the rating. It is a clone of the Power Dynamics 9200 series and appears to operate identical to them at about 2/3 the cost. The 4 modes (3 charging and 1 storage) should allow you to get the maximum life out of your wet cell or AGM lead acid batteries (no LifePO4 unfortunately). The unit will automatically select the mode based on the battery health and charge state. If you don't want to do a lot of maintenance on your battery bank, then this may be for you. This is a bit bigger than the WF converters, so you may have to work out your mounting arrangements. It will require adequate ventilation and airflow so don't shove it into a small boxed area. If you have a large RV with a lot of battery capacity, or an inhouse backup battery bank, this is a nice charging option given the automatic mode selection and battery maintenance mode (anti sulfation) that becomes active after a period of battery inactivity. The literature doesn't explicitly state it won't do LifePO4, but after reviewing the charging modes and the original Power Dynamics design, I found it is not optimized for it and it SHOULD state that on the product page. You could charge a LifePO4 with it, but it would not fully charge and would not be a good idea. It could shorten the life of the battery and could lead to catastrophic battery failure if not watched closely. I would advise not using for Lithium or LifePO4. If you need a heavy duty DC supply or charger, this may be for you. External workmanship looks good and it powers up just fine. If you are already using a PD9280, this would be a good lower cost backup for you.
